1985 called, they want their mini LEGO sets backby ~zpaolo

Digital Art / 3-Dimensional Art / Characters / Machines & Robots

There's nothing better than LEGO mini sets, especially if they come from the classic space era. These three sets (6805 Astro Dasher, 6806 Surface Hopper and 6807 Space Scooter) were all released in 1985 and featured nice parts like the transparent tubes and boosters, plus each minifig was a different color.

I decided to model all three and put them in this scene, modeled in Creo Parametric and rendered in Luxion Keyshot. Rough reflections from the base and some depth of field provide the right level of realism, and contributed to the lengthy rendering process, but the result was worth it

I really like the new Galaxy Squad sets... they hark back to the days of classic space a bit.

I agree, they use a lot of specialty parts, but in an inventive and creative way, that's why I think they are good. The worst LEGO space theme in my opinion is Star Wars, think of all the years of LEGO space lost because SW was the only LEGO space theme available :/
