Is soccer golden on the outside, yet ephemeral on the inside?
It all started as an experiment on modeling platonic solids, the "soccer ball" is a truncated icosahedron that was then used as a projection to generate hexagonal and pentagonal parts. I assembled and modeled everything in Creo Parametric (Pro/Engineer) and rendered it in Keyshot.
The idea of the golden ball with the faint bubble inside creates a nice contrast between a solid, precious material and a diaphanous, light soap bubble. Thanks to Keyshot it was fairly easy to obtain realistic materials for gold (both glossy and rough) and the thin layer of soap water.
